March, 2004

Happy March, everyone!

It’s question and answer time again! Yay! And man, do I have questions from you guys. I’ve got so many, they’re coming out my wazoo…well, not really, because that would be too gacky for words, but you get the idea.

Before I get to them, I wanted to say mucho uber-ta for all the really nice things everyone has said about They Wear What Under Their Kilts. Katie gets weepy-eyed when she reads your e-mails, but that’s because she’s emotional about that sort of thing. Me, I just know it means you all have excellent taste, because you’re obviously very intelligent and tight with things that are coolio.

But there is one thing that’s bothering me, so without further yammering on, let’s get right to it.

Question from Amanda: Why didn't you and Fang get together, especially after he saved you from evil Adian?? You definetly should have.  I am rooting for you to guys to finally realize that you were made for each other in Book 2!!!!!!!!!!

Comment from another Amanda: I just read They Wear WHAT Under Their Kilts? And it was great! I was disapointed about Fang and Devon though. Fang would be much better for her then Devon. Like the fourtune teller said Fang will unly have one true love. Emily's said that to but said she had to pass obstaces to get there. Still i think Devon will go back to haveing a flock of girls around him once Em. went to the US. Fang would be more devoted then that.

Question from Jackie: Emily, you are KILLLING me. Do you have any feelings for the guy that was good to you? what was his name.... Lane or Lal? No, Fang! Is there any possibility with you two? Please tell me. PLEASE! With a cherry on top.......

My answer to all three:  I get the idea you guys are trying to tell me something, but I can’t quite figure out what. J Thanks for all the advice, everyone. I’ll think about what you all are telling me, although I can’t make any promises. I mean, even if I did decide to make Fang Mr. Emily, he might not want to! And what if I told him I wanted him to be my BF, but he didn’t want to, and then he wasn’t my friend anymore? GAH! That would be horrible! I’m going to cry just thinking about it.

Sniffle. Next question…

Question from Avery: ok, this is going to sound stupid b/c who doesnt want a guy drooling over them. But, I just cannot get this guy to get the hint and go away! He won't stop looking at me in class,(well, who wouldnt want to look at me? i mean, i am fabu) and he always tells my friends much he likes me and everything. But I have MANY other guys on the potential boyfriend list that come WAY before this guy. What do I do to make him get the hint without hurting his feelings?

My answer: having too many guys interested in me has never really been my problem, but I’ll do a little mental imagery like skiers and other sporty people do and imagine myself in that situation. Mmm…mmmmmm….nope. Just can’t imagine it. So I’m going to have to wing the answer here, Avery–I’d say you should just tell the guy flat out that you’re always happy to have another friend, but that you’re not ready to move him into BF position. The important thing is to let him know what you think without hurting his feelings, because he’s really being nice by thinking you’re hot and all. So firm but nice is the answer.

Question from Dreamer: I was wondering if there was going to be a sequel to The Year My Life Went Down the Loo? If there is please tell me when it's coming out or if it already is.

My answer: the second of my books, They Wear What Under Their Kilts, or TWWUTK as I call it, came out a couple of weeks ago. The third one, What’s French for "Ew!"? will come out in May, and the last of my books, The Taming of the Dru, will hit bookstores in September. Katie is doing some other books, but I’m not in them. I know, it makes no sense to me, either, but when does Katie ever listen to me?

Question from Paolina: Hey Emily, I have a question for you. OK my friend wants me to go out with this guy, but he's just my friend. A close one at that. Anyhoo, what should I do? Hey! That rhymes. He he.

My answer: I love my friends, especially my really close friends, but you know what? Sometimes they want something for me that I don’t want. So my advice would be to tell Friend A that you like Friend B a lot, and that you don’t want to mess up everything with him by trying to make him into a BF. Unless that’s what you want to do, of course, in which case, go for it!

That’s it for this month! If you’ve got more questions you want me to answer, fire ‘em off to me at emily@katiemaxwell.com And keep sending Katie e-mails telling her what you think about the books. That sort of thing means a lot to you when you’re ancient.
